    Hi Dale:

Thanks for reminding me of other venues outside of bookstores for sales! This video is very informative.

Dale ~ thanks for the invaluable information. Right now I am involved in writing my first book. You can imagine how much I appreciate you sharing your information. I listen to you and take notes daily. Thanks again ~ Ruby

Hi Dale, great episode as always. What I especially like is that you bring up information that I have never really considered. I always through selling in books was my only option, but now after this video, I cant wait to watch tomorrow! Thanks again!

    Hi Dale
Spent most of the weekend catching up on the back episodes and now find myself waitng for the next episode. Have been working through many of the questions you ask and whilst it is good to have answers for some it is even better to discover the issues we have not yet thought of.
Congratulations on a great concept and your super presentation style.
  • I totally agree with you that you have to look beyond book stores - it is not just the initial sale, but possibilities of being invited to speak at a organisation. My first book is currently at the printing company and I'm so ecited that I cannot contain myself - will send you a copy.

Thank you for sharing you insight. You shine the light in dark places and uncover the hidden barriers for me.
  • More great info, thanks Dale. I have to confess that I've been pretty lax at promoting my novel but I'm really looking forward to getting into my first non-fic project. It seems mush easier to get non-fiction under people's noses.

Great episode, Dale. Very informative. Book store exposure is one the greatest aspects a writer can have, especially if you're an unknown. I can't wait for tomorrow's episode to hear the cons.

Hi Dale. I enjoy watching your videos a lot and appreciate the work and effort you put into it.
I will be sending a book (non fiction) to printer within 2 weeks and this information is priceless to me and the timing couldn't be better :o)

    Regards

    Rado
  • Thanks for your comments Rado. Very happy to hear that these videos are making a difference. Please keep commenting! Dale

P.S. Please send me a copy of your book when it is done. Would love to see the end product.
  • Here is a great comment that was left by Leela Cosgrove on our Facebook Fanpage...

"Hey Dale, great episode! A lot of people wait until after they've self-published to even start thinking about researching distribution ... This is a MUST-WATCH for those who are thinking about publishing their own books! (And it's going to save me HEAPS of time explaining it to clients! "Oh just go and watch Dale!"

Thanks Leela. Really appreciate the support :-)

It seems to be that bookstores and the media getting interested works best for non-fiction titles. What about fiction? I can see the extra income and credibility plays a part in that, but does the media really care for a fiction title?

Hi Dale, Great episode. I agree with you re book shops. Every one I have approached has said yes and I am currently organising signings once I am in their systems. I have found local book shops such as Angus and Roberson to be very supportive of local authors. Self published authors have to promote themselves and Posters with 'Meet The Author' can be very influencial. It's all very exciting and I am enjoying your ideas and implementing them in my promotions.
    Thank You
    Lori
  • Hi Lori, Great to see that you are taking a really pro-active approach. It is really important to do so in todays market place. Keep commenting on all videos. Warm Regards, Dale

Thanks so much for the spot on info!

I have just finished writing my first novel and am just in the throws of pinning down and agent and making all the decisions that are to be made.

I look forward to your next show,

    Cheryl
  • Congratulations Collet on finishing your book. It is a great achievement. Please let me know how you go with finding an agent. Kind Regards, Dale

I'm planning on using as many different ways to get my book out there that I can. Don't think I'll need to worry much about the money thing, I just want people to read it.
  • That is great Connor. It's a good way to look at it. By the way, what topic are you writing about? Fiction or Non-Fiction? Dale
  • Connor
I'm planning a fiction/fantasy series. Not sure how many books will be involved, I was leaning towards 9 maybe. I'll have to see how the story line works. Gonna have a lot of backstory. Could even have a series about that part to. All part of the fun.
