Print Own Book : How To Deal With A Book Printer and Save Thousands – Episode #026

Today is a little unique and features a phone call between Dale and his book printers. This episode gives you great insight for behind the scenes and shows you what types of conversations and thought process you will need to have if you print own book.

Dale shows you how you can minimize the print run costs by tweaking a few things and changing some options with your book printers.

P.S I know the buzzing sound is still there. We are really sorry about that and are working on fixing the issues.

  • Dale,

    This video is GOLD!

I just got a comparison quote from both printing companys you've mentioned here in Australia...the printer (which you suggeseted as the one you use in another video) offered the better deal...

The account manage was very helpful as I was honest about this being my first print run...saved 20%...cheers mate!

    Write On!
  • Good video. I'm in the proscess to organise my book print and chose to have a 80 gsm page print and 300 gsm cover print. I am going to phone my printer again and ask about the cream 70 grams paper print. I had a lot of quotes for offset printing and it is by far more expensive than digital printing. Thanks for sharing.
  • Cool. Glad to know my tips helped

    Hi Dale,
I love your TV show... I've learnt so much, so quickly. This episode is great because it helps us realise that we have many options to reduce the printing costs. The Blue Couch is great... it's interesting hearing other authors experiences. Thank you so much for all the information, every show is a wealth of information.
  • Thanks for this very useful information, Dale.
  • Thanks Roslyn, please keep coming back and leaving your comments :-)
  • Another good one, thanks Dale. I will definitely look into that cream paper stock.

So if you were to keep the embossing on your book, would the retail price go up in a store? I've been thinking about adding a few things to my book when it comes out, but they could get pricey. Lets say you had the money, could you pay the costs yourself so that the retail price stays lower?
  • No the RRP would be the same Connor. And not to sure what you mean but the final question. If you need an answer please ask me again. Thanks, Connor!
  • Connor
Actually I think you answered my question. Thanks!
  • Thanks again Dale, this video alone will save me thousands by changing the paper stock. As always you are very generous with your quality of information. Thanks so much for sharing this tip and all the other episodes in this series
