Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a long title, but it barely tells us what it's about if you don't know who Harry Potter is. So how about having a long title and trying to be vague about the story itself?

How do I come up with a book title? I'm almost done writing my non-fiction and don't have a title, yet.
  • I like the idea of a shock book title.. but where does the limits go? What is too shocking? I'm asking as I'm considering something quite controversial for my next book.

Nice job on the short and long titles, Dale.

You showed a few examples of long titles and short ones really well. Can it also apply to fiction as well? One more thing: what are your methods of generating book titles?

Thanks for your help and time.
  • Hi Hanan, Yes all of my formats for writing successful "Book Titles" can be applied to Fiction books as well. You only need to go into a bookstore with the list and you will see lots of fiction examples. Keep watching Hanan, Dale

I don't suppose it matters whether or not your book is fiction or not, you can use any amount of words for either and still have a good title. Or is there a proven fact that one works better then the other for a certain genre of book?
  • Thanks for your comment Conner. No one style of book title isn't better than the other. It just depends on who your market and what they are going to respond to best. That is why it is always important to test, test and test. Talk soon, Dale
